I was needed to buy some new tyres for my Bakfiets.nl cargo bike. I couldn’t see the tire sizes on the tire and no-one seems to put the specs on the internet. After some measuring, I can confirm that the tires are:

I have an Audio Pro T10 bluetooth speaker. I use it to play music from my iphone. For some reason this morning, when I tried to use, I could not hear any music coming out. The iphone was connected and playing music. I tried my wife’s phone and this played perfectly. I finally realised that the music was coming through but really quietly at a really low volume.
It seems that you have reset your bluetooth connection. Go into bluetooth setting. Click the information button.
Then forget the device.
Then re-pair the phone with the bluetooth speaker. The sound should then work again. If it doesn’t then repeat the process.
I’m just going through PCI Compliance for a company that I work for. The security scan picked an apparent vulnerability in the open-ssh server. The vulnerability had been patched in Ubuntu 14.04 and so this is a false positive. I thought that I post put about it because I found lots of posts where people are trying to compile their the latest open-ssh servers to get around this problem – when in fact it isn’t actually a problems. Compiling your own version of the open-ssh server isn’t recommended because you will have to continually patch the package yourself from then on.
The warning text said:
Threat:
OpenSSH (OpenBSD Secure Shell) is a set of computer programs providing encrypted communication sessions over a computer network using the SSH protocol.
The sshd server fails to validate user-supplied X11 authentication credentials when establishing an X11 forwarding session. An authenticated user may inject arbitrary xauth commands by sending an x11 channel request that includes a newline character in the x11 cookie.
Please note that Systems with X11Forwarding enabled are affected.
Affected Versions:
OpenSSH versions prior to 7.2p2
Impact:
An authenticated, remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary commands on the targeted system.
Solution:
Users are advised to upgrade to the latest version of the software available. Refer to OpenSSH 7.2p2 Release Notes for further information.
Patch:
Following are links for downloading patches to fix the vulnerabilities:
OpenSSH 7.2p2
Result:
SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_6.6.1p1 Ubuntu-2ubuntu2.8 detected on port 22 over TCP.

A couple of the spokes where gone on my Bakfiets cargo bike. I tried all the usual bike shops in Oxford but none of them stocked the right size. Bakfiets bikes use especially thick spokes (2.5mm). The previous owner had replaced the broken spokes standard bike spokes which were very thin and essentially useless because they can’t take the load.
It turns out that the Bakfiets use motorbike / moped bike spokes. You can order custom spokes in batches of 10 from a company called Central Wheel. They cost around £2 per spoke. My bakfiets wheel was a little a buckled and I didn’t feel confident in replacing the spokes myself and so in the end I took off the wheel and got it rebuilt by Your Spokes. He measured and ordered the correct spokes from Central Wheel. I can highly recommend him.
You can see how thick the spokes are and also a missing one.
Out of interest, I took the wheel off by resting the bike on an old railway sleeper and tied it to a bin to keep it upright. I’ve also taken the box off because I’m remaking it at the moment.
Hope this is helpful for someone.
The Bakfiets bikes come with two straps for the children’s bench. Unfortunately the buckles on my second hand bike had worn out and broken which meant they were completely useless. The buckles are sewn into the straps and you can’t get replacement straps for the Bakfiets. Luckily there are fantastic side removable buckles made by a company called Sea To Summit. They can be used to replace a broken buckle without restitching the strap.
You can order the replacement buckles from Amazon here.

I am just having to replace a few of the spokes on the rear tire which have worn out. Without a set of callipers, I found it quite hard to work out their width. The spokes on the Bakfeits are 1.55mm diameter. The nipples are 4.8mm diameter. The length will vary from bike to bike depending on the model that you have.
I have a Volvo V50 and started noticing that with heavy rain the drivers side foot well was becoming damp. It turns out this is caused by a blocked tube that goes from the sun roof to the bonnet. Sometimes the tube gets blocked or shrinks and therefore doesn’t reach the bonnet. I took it the garage it was they cleaned the tube.
I have a Volvo V50 1.6 Eco Drive. Over the past few months, it has started to lose fuel efficiency dramatically. It dropped below 52 MPG and ended up around 42 MPG. It turned out that this is caused by a semi blocked diesel particulate filter. This was probably blocked because of soot caused by having dirty injectors. I bought a bottle of DPF Cleaner and also some Injector Cleaner and added them to the fuel. I did it over two half full tanks. I found that the MPG increased dramatically over the period of about 2 weeks.
The other potential diagnosis for this problem is a dirty MAS (Mass Airflow Sensor). You can get this cleaned also.
If you are in the UK then I recommend visiting Halfords and getting them to clean your diesel particulate filter in a liquid.
